This reference applies to an available unregistered fourth-generation Elite gasoline vehicle. It excludes international freight, marine insurance, destination taxes, customs clearance and local registration.
The 2026 Changan CS55 Plus creates an unusual sourcing choice because the fourth-generation name now appears in both Chinese and officially localized overseas channels. The body and basic powertrain may look similar, but the trim structure, connected services and after-sales package are not automatically interchangeable.
All four China-market gasoline versions use the same 192 hp engine, wet dual-clutch transmission and front-wheel-drive layout. Paying more does not buy additional engine output. The real differences concern tire profile, sensor hardware, parking functions and passenger comfort.
The source market matters more than the CS55 Plus badge
The fourth-generation Chinese vehicle is identified by its 4,550 mm body, 192 hp engine, 310 N·m torque output and four-trim price range beginning at RMB 92,900. Earlier CS55 Plus generations use different dimensions and lower engine outputs, so a quotation should not be identified by the model year alone.
A new officially localized CS55 Plus was also introduced in Mexico for 2026. Changan’s global material emphasizes a locally configured connected cabin, wireless phone integration, remote services, intelligent safety functions and regional parts support.
The China-market vehicle may offer a lower sourcing cost and a broader choice of domestic trims. The official overseas version places more value on local software, dealer support, warranty administration and parts availability.
For markets where Changan already sells the new CS55 Plus officially, the purchasing decision is therefore not simply “China price versus local price.” It is a choice between a China-specification vehicle and a locally supported ownership package.
The Leading version carries the most transferable equipment
The Elite already receives the full 192 hp powertrain and the same passenger and luggage dimensions as the more expensive versions. It protects the acquisition budget, but its simpler cruise-control package limits the value of its electronic equipment on longer journeys.
The Leading version keeps 18-inch wheels while adding adaptive distance control. Those features remain useful without depending heavily on Chinese maps, online accounts or navigation-based lane guidance.
The two Tianshu versions add more cameras, radar and parking hardware. In China, the system can support automatic parking and navigation-based assistance on compatible expressways. Outside China, basic collision warnings, distance control and camera functions may remain useful, while route-based functions can depend on maps, accounts and software support.
This makes the Leading trim more than a middle price point. For many international buyers, it combines the same engine as the flagship with a taller tire sidewall and a smaller proportion of its value tied to China-specific digital services.
Loaded ground clearance changes the rough-road calculation
The unloaded ground-clearance figure is approximately 188 mm, but the fully loaded figure is closer to 167 mm. The lower number is the more useful reference when the vehicle carries five passengers, luggage or business cargo.
This does not make the CS55 Plus unsuitable for damaged pavement or unpaved access roads. Its approach and departure geometry is more forgiving than that of a low sedan, and the surround-view camera can help the driver identify obstacles near the front bumper and beneath the vehicle.
However, it remains a front-wheel-drive road-focused crossover rather than an off-road vehicle. Buyers regularly using deep ruts, sharp rocks or steep muddy tracks should not treat the SUV badge as a substitute for additional ground clearance or four-wheel drive.
The 225/60 R18 tires fitted to the first two versions provide more sidewall than the 225/55 R19 tires used on the upper trims. On broken roads, that difference can be more valuable than the visual effect of the larger wheels, while replacement tires are often easier to source and less expensive.
Early owner fuel results depend more on traffic than trim level
The official combined fuel-use figure is 6.9 L/100 km for every gasoline version. Early fourth-generation owner reports show why this should be treated as a comparison figure rather than a fixed daily result.
Some owners report readings close to 6.9–7.5 L/100 km in mixed use, while vehicles driven mainly on short urban journeys have shown approximately 8–9 L/100 km. Cold starts, congestion, air-conditioning use and repeated low-speed acceleration can increase consumption even though the engine and transmission are unchanged.
Low-speed behavior of the wet dual-clutch transmission is also a frequent buyer question. Early reports are mixed: some drivers find the response smooth, while others notice a brief delay or small shift sensation during crawling traffic. Current evidence does not support describing this as a universal transmission fault.
A progressive accelerator input and a complete pause before changing between forward and reverse can make parking maneuvers smoother. Buyers whose routes are dominated by congested traffic should plan fuel cost around their local conditions rather than assuming the official figure will be repeated in every city.
